Jackie Bristow is a Gore-born singer songwriter based in Austin, Texas. In 2009 she toured the US, Japan & Australia, and is currently touring New Zealand to promote her third album, Freedom. Recording of Freedom was divided between Austin & Sydney and was co-produced by Bristow & Mark Punch. Musicians on the album include J. J Johnson (John Mayer), Mark Punch (Kasey Chambers), Chris Maresh (Erik Johnson), Matt Fell (Josh Pike), Jeff Young (Steely Dan), Clayton Doley (Jimmy Barnes), Rob Woolf (Jimmy Barnes) and backing singers Mahalia Barnes, Gary Clark Jr. and Gary Pinto.
Bristow offers a blend of pop, alt country & roots music that is fresh and her own. A fantastic live performer, she impresses audiences world-wide when opening for Madeleine Peyroux, Phoebe Snow, Jimmy Webb, Art Garfunkel, Renee Geyer, Mark Seymour & Daniel Lanois; and at the One World Theatre in Austin opening for Shawn Colvin, Ricky Skaggs, Rodney Crowell & Richie Havens. Jackie also plays regularly at the legendary Cactus Café opening for Austin's own Bob Schneider.
Bristow's songs have been used repeatedly in Australian & New Zealand film and television hit shows such as The Secret Life Of Us, Home & Away, Outrageous Fortune, Shortland Street and Go Big. Her track 'This is Australia' won Tourism Australia's Song Competition, and featured in a worldwide promotional campaign.
At age 8, Bristow began singing in her school choir. By 2000 her music reached Australian music mogul Michael Gudinski who signed her to Mushroom Music Publishing company & Liberation Music. In 2002 Bristow's well-received debut album Thirsty produced several successful singles and in 2005 she signed to Sydney label Craving Records — moving to LA to make the highly acclaimed Crazy Love, a collection of well crafted, haunting songs released in Oz, NZ, the US & Japan.
